Little Coates

Little Coates is a separate civil parish with an area of 4 square kilometers in the western area of the city of Grimsby.

The place’s history is quite short, though it is quite a significant village since it is one of the few villages which existed as far back as the Norman times. It was inhabited during their conquest. In 1861, there were 59 recorded people living in the area with a few cottages.

In 1901, the population grew due to the establishment of fish curing businesses and paper mills. This prompted the people to migrate to the place for livelihood.

As of the present, this little village has the parish church dedicated to St. Michael, a school, community center, fire station, and two police stations. Little Coates also boast of the beauty of the Kingston Gardens with a pond and acres of beautiful and fresh woodlands.

For sports, there is a golf course as well as a recreation ground for the general public.
